How we are different?

The primary difference between us and most other gyms and trainers is in our comprehensive approach to health, fitness and life. At CrossFit Sioux Falls, when you hire us, you are hiring a coach. We have created an enviornment that includes top notch coaching, encouragement, and motivation to ensure constant improvement and results. Our training includes much more than losing weight and lowering your bodyfat. We encourage our students to give a total wellness approach.

At CrossFit Sioux Falls we measure success of performance. The speed, weight, and intensity determine your progress. It delivers absolute and unbaised results. You will know without a doubt that if your body performance improves your body composition will naturally follow. There is no need to ever worry about the scale or body calpiars.

Our Success Formula: Constantly Varied + Functional movements + Group Enviornment + High Intensity = ELITE FITNESS

Constantly Varied

We train to get results by becoming stronger, faster, look better, feel better, be more flexible, and to have more stamina. Our body is smarter than we think. When we give our body the same exercise over and over again it will adapt in a short time. Growth and progress is the result of constantly challenging our body’s many muscular and nervous system combinations like: balancing, speed, agility, range of motion, postural demands, etc. The longer we do the same routines the more we will we get frustrated with our hard work and diminishing results, and mentally we can get burned out in the process. The key to exercising is to remember that “Routine is the enemy”. Every workout with us will include new combinations and challenges which will keep your body adapting to new stimulus and reaching new and different plateaus, as well as keep it interesting and fresh in the process. You move dynamically different in life everyday so why should your workouts be any different.

Functional Movements - "The Magic is in the Movements"

When you step into most gyms, the first thing you usually see is a multitude of weight and cardio machines configured as closely as possible together to fit as many as people possible into the space. Then after you’ve found the little space that is available, you must squeeze between people, weight machines, off in the corner, or in the middle of a walkway. You will find it is very difficult to get a complete functional workout. Once you have tried a CrossFit workout you will not look at a gym the same way. To achieve Elite Fitness having the right equipment is one of the main components which you will find commercial gyms do not offer. The drawback with most commerical gyms is the emphasis to work on machines. Machines artificially isolate your muscles which is un-natural because "how closely does this resemble a movement in real life?" With CrossFit, you work with functional excerises 100% of the time. This forces your upper and lower body to synergize and work together and results in more balance, stability, strength, and better performance. Body weight exercises challenge you to be strong and agile enough to be in control of your body (pull ups, dips, handstand push ups, push ups, etc). Weightlifting exercises require technique and skill, and call upon a large number of muscles in your body to work together at the same time (squat, deadlift, clean, jerk, snatch, kettle bell, etc). At CrossFit Sioux Falls, most of what you will see when you come to the gym is open space. Our "machines" are free weights - to use them simply requires skill, balance, stabilization, proprioception, and accuracy. The skills and movements we teach are all functional and multi-joint (require movement across 2 or more joints in your body). These neuromuscular activities are commonplace in both life and in sport, and since our objective in training is to mimic both, we find that free weights, with proper instruction and coaching, do this best. You will never see our clients doing "cardio" while sitting on a bike, reading a magazine. Nor will you see them "exercising" using a weight machine. Our workouts are intense - challenging you and your body to do things you never dreamt possible. They require you to be mentally alert, present and focused and will call upon your coordination, agility, strength, speed, endurance, stamina and flexibility. This is what we call "training" and its purpose is to make improvements regularly in all areas of fitness.

                                                      Group Environment

What is the best way to hold yourself accountable? Have someone else do it. The #1 reason people hire a personal trainer is because they wouldn't do the workout themselves. We bring the best of personal training (attention and instruction) and group class (using the energy and motivation from friends). Group training will turn any of our workouts into a competitive event. You will find yourself competing to complete the workouts faster and more efficient than if you were to do the same workout by yourself. There is a natural internal motivation that happens when you work out with a group of people vs. doing it alone. It is the difference between playing in a preseason game vs. playing in the Super Bowl.

                                                           High Intensity

Intensity is the independent variable most commonly associated with optimizing return. For example: if you want to burn body fat, gain muscle, get stronger, have more endurance the more intense you work out the faster you will achieve those results. Have you ever heard of the term of an athlete having the "X-Factor"? Like we mentioned earlier at CrossFit Sioux Falls we measure success off performance. It will deliver absolute and unbiased results. You will know without a doubt that if your body's performance improves your body composition will naturally follow.
