2011 What a Year!

I can’t believe how fast a year can go. This year was filled with so many great blessing from welcoming over 100 new members into our CrossFit family to all of the great gym additions. Greg and I feel so blessed to have gotten to know so many amazing people and no matter if you are a new member or been at CFSF for a while, you have all made our first year as owners great.

Casey has done an amazing job with programming and getting our new games program up and running. We are getting extremely excited for this years CrossFit Games Sectional workouts starting in February. We are hoping for more competitors than ever before; we have seen some great accomplishments by so many athletes. Along with the games programming we have also revamped and changed our regular programming to help incorporate new members better and in a non-intimidating way. I am so proud of everything that Casey has done and how much he has matured as a coach and a person in this last year.

We have also had a few losses at the gym that have impacted all of our lives. First, a great coach, Mike Brownfield (Browny) left to follow his dream, CrossFit 402. Although we miss him a ton we are all so proud of the lives that he is changing in Omaha Nebraska. Many of us had the privilege to participate in the CF402 Grand Opening WOD in October; it was a blast. I have always said this about Mike, “if you ever have the privilege of meeting him, you can’t help but love him. He is not only an amazing trainer but a great person.” Most of you also know that mid-January we will also be losing Matt Byers (Matty B); the Army is very luck and will be getting an amazing guy. It has been great having Matt teach in the morning and afternoon the last couple of weeks. His encouraging words and great attitude, not to mention his witty humor, is going to be missed.

We have added some great things to the gym this year as well. A big addition has been Rob Bolger. Rob has now taken on his role as a full time trainer and also helping in the area of new members. Rob is also heading up our new Nutrition Seminars that we are starting in January for all of our interested members. It has been great getting to work with Rob and seeing him develop and flourish in the training role.

Cody, now done with school, has also been really active and involved in CFSF. Although his specialty is Olympic lifting, I think all of you who attend Endurance in the A.M. would have no problem saying he can coach one heck of an endurance butt-kicker. We are all so luck to have Cody as a coach at CFSF; he not only makes all of our members better but he also makes us coaches great.

Greg and I feel so fortunate to have such an amazing staff and great members. It is really all of our members that make CFSF so rewarding. We thank you for welcoming us into your day and making our day brighter. Looking back 1-year lter, we still cherish and want to re-thank all of the members who came last New Years Eve and Day to help us paint, move equipment, and get ready for our big day, keeping CFSF moving ahead without missing a beat. Though CFSF has forever changed our lives and our family’s life, we all remain focused on our biggest goal – changing the lives of every single person who steps foot into CFSF. We want to show people a new way of working out and most of all a new way of living a positive, fun and healthy life.

Thank you all for a wonderful year – bring on 2012!
